Italy football team the story so far

The champions of the FIFA 2006 World cup for football, the unbeaten and surely amongst the best are the ITALIAN FOOTABALL TEAM. Italy is being represented by this power packed team in the World Championship by the name of Italy National Football Team. This team has set record of winning the championship not once, not twice but four times. That’s a history in itself and also is the reason why every Italian is proud of this team. They have won the championship in the year: 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006. Brazil is the one who stands first and Italy a close second.

The colour of the team is blue, that is, the jersey worn by the players is blue in colour, which is apparently linked to the royal reign of Italy as well. Italy played its first football in the year 1910 and was then defeated by France. But, besides the fact of losing, the players were rated amongst the best and at the end of the league were also given prizes. Summer Olympics was the occasion when this team registered its presence by coming third and securing a bronze for themselves in the year 1928 in Amsterdam.

Torino, the famous player of Italy, died in the year 1949 and after his tragic death, the main front line of the team got devastated.

Italy did not play the first world cup held in 1930, but it definitely proved everybody wrong in the year 1934, after winning their first world cup they repeated themselves in the year 1938 as well. Such is the charm and charisma of The Italian football Team. After the roaring success, Italy failed to prove itself in the years 1954, 1958 and 1962. In fact, they were out in the qualifies of 1958 league

FIFA 1978 world cup saw a new dawn of the Italy football team. Then came the young and dynamic players to take the world in control, such was the attitude of all the players. The world cup was in Argentina. Brazil defeated Italy 2-1 to reach to the third place of the finals. In the year 1980, Italy hosted the UEFA championship.

The uniqueness about this format was that eight teams were to play in place of four. The year 1994 is also very important in Italian football history, one, Lippi, the lead player announced its retirement and Roberto Donadidni was appointed as the new coach of the team. They played the UEFA 2008, and won it beating France in the finals. It was ranked as the number one team by FIFA, Argentina being the second in the race.

In the year 2006, Italy played the world cup with a lot of scepticism. One of its lead players, Calciopoli, was caught involved in a match fixing case and thus there were a lot of eyes raised on this team. Defence have always been the difficult side for this team to manage, They were considered weak in defence.

The now coach, Marcello Lippi, commented by saying that this team has all born leaders and the ability to prove them. All the players are intelligent and they know that they have to give 100% to this team and to the nation. There are players who show tantrums and thus, are not respected in the game. They don’t live up to the spirit of the game and thus, not perform well, despite repetitive counselling.

Some of the lead players of the Italy Football team are as follows:
Fabio Quagliarella, Marco Amelia, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Alessandro Gamberini, Pasquale Foggia, Simone Pepe, David Santon, Gennaro Gatuso are few to name.
